Definition

What is AI voice agent?

An AI voice agent is software that answers or makes phone calls, understands speech in real time, holds a natural conversation and completes tasks such as booking an appointment, qualifying a caller or taking an order. It runs 24/7 and hands over to a person when the call goes outside its scope.

What a voice agent can and cannot do

It reliably handles structured conversations: opening hours, bookings, order status, callback requests, first-level qualification. It is weaker at emotionally charged complaints and open-ended negotiation, which is where the handover to a human matters.

Hungarian speech recognition has improved sharply since 2024. Current models handle regional accents and mixed Hungarian-English vocabulary well enough for production use, but every deployment still gets tested with real recordings before going live.

What it costs to run

Running cost is usage-based: telephony minutes plus model inference, typically a fraction of a euro per minute of conversation. For most SMEs the monthly bill is far below one part-time receptionist.

Frequently asked questions

Does the caller know they are talking to an AI?

Yes. We recommend and configure a clear disclosure at the start of the call. It is required under the EU AI Act for AI systems interacting with people, and callers respond better when told.

Can it speak both Hungarian and English?

Yes. The agent detects the caller's language in the first sentence and continues in it, or you can pin one language per phone number.
